About

Brittany Franklin is a rising director whose distinctive style brings a musician's sensitivity to visual storytelling. Her artistic approach, shaped by her background as a classically trained musician and performer with The Public Theatre, infuses each frame with measured precision and emotional resonance. In her breakout LGBTQ+ web series "NATIVES," this unique vision manifests in storytelling that pulses with life - weaving together vivid imagery and carefully crafted moments that resonate with contemporary audiences. The series has garnered critical attention, earning a Queerty Awards nomination and features in Blavity and BronxNet.

Through her creative studio Cerebral Entertainment, Franklin has directed content for emerging artists, VP Records, and SummerStage live shows, bringing her lyrical perspective to music-driven narratives and branded content. Named one of Gotham's 2024 Branded Storytellers to Watch, her work demonstrates a keen ability to capture authentic stories that move audiences emotionally and visually.

Born Hearing and now Hard of Hearing, Franklin's evolving relationship with sound deepens her appreciation for the full spectrum of storytelling elements. This perspective has earned her the Sundance Uprising Grant, Carl Zydney Grant for Artist with Disabilities, and recognition as a Shondaland Women Directors Finalist. Her leadership extends beyond directing - in 2020, she founded Minorities in Film (MiFILM), a global collective amplifying BIPOC and disabled filmmakers that has become a driving force for industry change.

Currently developing new narrative projects, Franklin continues to create stories that resonate with the same emotional depth and precision that first drew her to music.
